Temple Stay in Nepal
Ashram, #Dharmashala are practised long back in Nepal and India. Now a days, Monastery stay and temple stay are increasing in Nepal. Lots of pilgrims and scholars stays in such accommodation. Some time it is controversial that such practice does not make any monetary contribution to the nation, instead it hampers the norms of tourism.
These days it is available in Pashupatinath, Bauddha, Kapan Gumba and many more hindu temple areas and Buddhist monasteries including Lumbini, the birth place of Gautam Buddha.
Hoteliers are against these practice, while Dharma Gurus and Pandits are in support of these development. Being a tourism student, I see it as another product in tourism. We need to find out varities of accommodation to fulfill different clients in the industry. Though they don't contribute in commercial benefit, but they may contribute in society directly or indirectly.

Food Tour in Nepal
Travelling in search of food is "Food Tour". This is what I understood. We need food to live. But there are lots of people who live for food. They love to travel to taste varieties of food available in this world. They taste each and every kind of food made and cooked in the fire. From insect to big animals, organic to wild, whatever they think can be eaten will be taken by foodies. That is why, there is another market in tourism to tap, that is food tour for foodies.
"DAL BHAT POWER 24 HOUR"
If you are foodies and like to taste Nepali food, here I like to mention few. There is saying in Nepal "Dal Bhat Power, 24 Hour". Rice and lentil gives you energy for 24 hours. As almost all Nepali love to eat dal bhat with vegetables and pickles each and every meal every day. And this is a balanced diet for all people survive in Nepal. This diet has carbohydrate, protein, minerals, vitamins. This is also known as "Nepali Khaana"
Activities in Food Tour
During food tour, you need to travel in search of all the ingredients to cook by yourself. You will be taken for shopping in local market or local village. You will taste the raw materials on your own. Your guide explain the nutrient values of all the ingredients that help to create the local taste.
In the mean time, you will have opportunity for extra ordinary sight seeing during your visit to local village or local market, which may not be available in travel diaries. You will meet the real local villagers and dwellers. This will be strange experience in your life time.
The utensils for cooking you will be using traditional cookware during food tour. You might have seen in your country's museum mentioning that once upon a time, the people used those utensil. The locals do not cook in electric cooker neither they cook in solar heater. You will find open fire place in open site or closed door kitchen. How interesting! Wow! for Nepalese it is daily routine job, while for tourist like you, will be interesting science during your visit to Nepal.
Cooking your local meal takes your time and learn country life style in Nepal first hand. Are you interested to have #foodtour in Nepal?
