Last Minute Change (LMC)

The prayers flag, banners, bunting, standee, flexes, signage, transfer, tickets, room arrangement, hospitality desk, name tag, badges, program, chief guests, invitation card, VIPs list, security, stationary, stage, chairs, lights, sound, audio, video, fans, volunteers, invitees, reconfirmation, RSVP, lunch, dinner, formal dresses, tents, etc. are the final checklist for any events you organize. 

At the last moment you should check and recheck these list and reconfirmed. You should not get panicked. Be cool. Sometimes, volunteer get frustrated if they do not get their meals on time, communication on time, transfer on time, program on time, briefing on time. These are most of the time missed out in rush. So we should take care of these small but very important service to each and every volunteers. We should boost them each and every time.

In many times, during the event, guests do changes in their arrival and departure date, time. Hotel changes, tour plan changes, etc. These last minute changes (LMC) should be addressed to get smile in the face of guests.

Guests are god.

What the hell is this? What type of management are you doing? How are you managing such a big group? It is totally disgusting, screamed on me, when I met one of my distinguished guest. 

It was a peak season, I was doing my best to provide service to all of my guests. But, because I could not give him immediate attention for a while, he yelled on me. I found, he has his some complex on him. He started blaming on me that he was stared by some of my friends as of he was just released from zoo. I said, so sorry for that type of action by my friend. After saying sorry for many times, he was agreed and I felt relieved.

Another guy was upset with his set program. He started screaming on me that the program I sent him was wrong one. He did not want to go the place that I had planned according to his budget. Then, I offered him another alternative if he wanted to change. In this case he had to add some amount. He did not agreed. I had no option to fulfill his demand. If he did not pay additional amount I was sorry say that I could not help him. 

After some time, he cooled down and said, he would love to pay entrance fee, and I need to pay transfer for alternative destination. We came to the compromising point. Both of us were happy. This was win win situation. After all, guests are god.

Story Telling

Telling a story is a skill. Everybody has different types of skill in telling a tale, some tell in interesting way while some tell in their own way. That may not be interesting. Are you a story teller? 

While we were in childhood, our grand mom used to tell a folk stories and Jataka stories. The interesting stories were Akbar Birbal, Lotpot, Phantom, Ghasitaram etc. Our grand mom was a great story teller while telling ghost stories, We felt watching a horror movie while we listen her. The expression of our grand mom was a skill to terrify us and to make us sleep as soon as possible at night. 

Though we were terrified, we never feel tired of listening ghost stories. We demand more and more to listen every day. Now, I feel that, the way our grand mom told the story, was a skill that we need to copy from her. She created an interest in listening every night. 

Relating to marketing and promotion, today, we need to create the interest of people and demand at the end. These days, we are reviving the story telling skill. Whoever can tell a story in interesting way, he or she will have a good content. That is why, content writer or story writer has high demand in branding in social media and online marketing.

Himalayan Travel Mart 2017

Nepal is organizing international travel mart from 01 June to 04 June 2017 in Kathmandu, Nepal. This mart is hosted by Nepal Government, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation with the support of PATA International, Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Airlines. PATA Nepal Chapter is working as an implementing agent. 

This mart is a platform to meet buyers from all over the world and sellers from Himalayan countries, Nepal, China, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh and so on. Today, we are in the age of information. We need to be updated with the trends of travel and tourism development in the world, marketing strategy, technology involved in tourism sectors. I think this platform is the right place to participate in. 

We can not predict the national trend, if we are not aware on latest technology and international trends. We should look for new market and develop new product to keep our market share intact in travel and tourism. The trends are rapidly changing due to information technology (IT world). The word of mouth is now changed to "reference world". Mobile application has made more easy to reach the destination and meet local people in a second. The job definition of travel agent is going to change through these changing trends in very short time of span.

The traditional marketing style now needs modification to be in the market. Therefore, we need to participate in such a mart to get updated trends and technology. The effort of Nepal Government, Nepal Tourism Board, PATA Nepal Chapter and all travel trade associations need to work together for the benefit of Tourism in Himalaya. 

This mart is gathering bloggers and media from around the world too. These media people will definitely highlight Nepal and Nepalese travel trend to the world. So the domestic participants have great opportunity to tell the tale directly to these international participants.
