Buddhist International Travel Mart (BITM)

The Buddhist International Travel Mart (BITM) is an event that promotes tourism and pilgrimage to Buddhist sites in different countries. It is a platform for travel agencies, tour operators, hoteliers, and other stakeholders in the tourism industry to showcase their offerings and engage with potential customers. BITM provides a space for people to network, exchange ideas, and learn about the latest trends in Buddhist tourism.

The BITM Nepal is held annually in Nepal that have significant Buddhist sites. The event is organized by Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) and hosted by Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation (MOCTCA) supported by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The first BITM was held in Nepal in 2019 at Lumbini and was inaugurated by the then Minister for Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Rabindra Adhikari. Since then, it has been held in Lumbini, Nepal in 11-13 May 2023.

The objective of BITM is to promote, spiritual, Buddhist tourism and pilgrimage, which contributes to the preservation and conservation of Buddhist sites. The event also aims to create awareness about the rich history and culture of Buddhism and foster intercultural dialogue and understanding. BITM attracts a diverse audience that includes travel professionals, tourism enthusiasts, scholars, and representatives from the Buddhist community.

BITM features various activities such as exhibitions, presentations, seminars, and cultural performances.
